Importing Windlight Settings from Phoenix to Firestorm

Phoenix has the ability to use notecards to store and share windlight settings; at this time, Firestorm doesn't have that. But if you have WL settings saved in Phoenix on your computer, you can “import” them.

Your custom windlights are saved in different locations on Phoenix, depending on your operating system:

  • Vista & Windows 7: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\user_settings\windlight\skies
  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\windlight\skies
  • Mac: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings/windlight/skies
  • Linux: ~/.secondlife/user_settings/windlight/skies

If you dont see the Appdata folder, you need to have hidden files and folders set to show.

There you will see an xml file for each one you saved. You should also keep a backup of all these in a seperate folder too, incase you ever have to do a clean reinstall of Phoenix, you will lose them.

Copy all these XML files.

Then find your Windlight Skies folder in Firestorm. This is located at:

  • Vista & Windows 7: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Firestorm\user_settings\windlight\skies
  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\Firestorm\user_settings\windlight\skies
  • Mac: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/Firestorm/user_settings/windlight/skies
  • Linux: ~/.firestorm/user_settings/windlight/skies

.. and copy the xml files over into this folder. Then relog on Firestorm and all your presets will be available.
