If you get errors or things are not working as you might expect, then please consult the Troubleshooting Guide.
Please refer to this page for more on this issue.
Please refer to this page for the many ways you can get help.
There are three ways to do this:
They are the little IM icons in the bottom right. They serve the same purpose as the tabs in the IM floater.
They are the little fading bubbles of text that pop up from the chiclets and nearby chat tab.
After you have typed whatever you want to say, use Cltr-Enter to shout, Shift-Enter to whisper. Enter alone is Say.
Right click at the top on a black space of the Menu bar. Then check or uncheck the items you want to see or hide.
In Preferences, go to Chat → General, and check Remove chat headers (V1 style).
When clicking on the SLURL the Place Profile will open and at the bottom on the left hand side is the teleport button. This is where you will click to teleport. You will have to close the Place Profile after you complete your teleport.
For other SLURL issues, please refer here.
You can access it in the Places Window; click the Places button on the bottom button bar.
Yes, they are located in Preferences → Firestorm → CmdLine. NOTE that not all of them are functional as yet.
Go to Preferences → Firestorm → General
Go to Preferences → Firestorm → General
Go to Preferences → Firestorm → General
Open the active speaker list, hover over a name, click the orange (i) button. This will let you adjust volumes.
Alternately click the small arrow on the right of the talk button, this will open the voice control panel and click on the (i) next to the avatar's name.
See this page for more on using voice, and this page for voice troubleshooting.
Make sure your password is 16 characters or less. If longer, shorten your password on the website and try logging in again. If the SL website also refuses to take your password, use the “Forgot my password” link to get it fixed.
See also the troubleshooting section for other login and start-up issues.

The simple answer is, yes, they are the same thing.

If the move control is not visible, you may display it by selecting Avatar → Move Controls from the top menu bar or by clicking on the Move button in the bottom button bar. If you have two (or more) monitors and prefer to use Firestorm on one other than the primary, move it over as you normally would, but before closing it the first time, make sure the window is NOT maximized. This will save the window position when you next go to start the viewer. On subsequent runs you can maximize the viewer.
NOTE: In some cases, running the viewer on a monitor other than the primary, will result in a bake fail; specifically you may end up with your avatar becoming transparent, for yourself and/or others.
Click the People icon on the bottom button bar; on that, click the Friends tab. By default, this shows those online, while the ALL tab shows your entire list of friends.
Note: People can set themselves to not have their online status known; in this case, they will show as offline even if they are not.
Bring up Preferences → Dialog Alerts and set Tell me … When my friends log in or out as you prefer it. You can have the notifications go to nearby chat and chat console (instead of toasts) by enabling Also log to nearby chat, or to nearby chat only by selecting Only in nearby chat.
