Firestorm - Fragen und Antworten

  • Wie gelange zu den Einstellungen ? ?
    Es gibt 3 Wege um zu den Einstellungen zu gelagen:
    • Obere Menüleiste → Avatar → Einstellungen
    • Schwebe mit deinem Mauszeiger über dem Lautsprecher Symbol oben rechts, und im daraufhin erscheinenden Regler, ganz unten auf Optionen (Zahnrad)
    • Strg-P
  • Was sind Chiclets?
    Nein, das sind nicht junge Hühner :P Es handelt sich hierbei um die kleinen IM (Privat Mitteilung) Symbole unten rechts. Sie erfüllen dem gleichen Zweck wie die Reiter im IM Fenster.
  • Was sind Toasts?
    Das sind die kleinen Fensterchen, die unten rechts oberhalb der Chicklets hoch springen (Wie eine Scheibe Toast aus dem Toaster :P), und die nach kurzer Zeit ausgeblendet werden. Sie dienen dem Zweck, dir mitzuteilen, dass du irgendwo eine Nachricht bekommen hast, sei es in IM, oder auch im Gruppenchat.
  • Wie kann ich sehen wer online ist ?
    Klicke auf die Leute Schaltfläche auf der unteren Menüleiste, und danach auf den Reiter “Freunde”. Standardmäßig zeigt dieser Reiter nur die Freunde die online sind, während der “Alle” Reiter deine gesamte Kontaktliste darstellt.
  • Wie blende ich die Standort/Navigation/Suchleiste aus ?
    Mache einen rechts Klick auf die Menüleiste(ganz oben), und entferne die Häkchen nach Belieben.
  • Kann ich gleichzeitig mehrere Avatar- oder Gruppenprofile betrachten ?
    Das ist mit Avatarprofilen möglich, jedoch ist dies zur Zeit nicht mit Gruppen möglich.
  • Wie kann ich meinen Chat wieder so aussehen lassen wie im alten Viewer ?
    In Einstellungen → Chat → “Chat Kopfzeilen entfernen (V1 style)” aktivieren.
  • Wenn ich eine SLURL klicke, sehe ich keinen Teleportknopf.
    Wenn eine SLURL geklickt wurde, öffnet sich das Profil des Ortes, und unten links im Profil, befindet sich eine Schaltfläche mit der du teleportieren kannst. Anschließend solltest du dieses Profil schließen.
  • Wie ändere ich die Farbe von meinem Avatarnamen ?
    In Advanced → Debug Settings, gib FirestormTagColor ein, und klicke das Farbauswahlfeld um eine Farbe zu selektieren.
  • Gibt es Kommando Eingabe wie in Phoenix ?
    Ja, und zwar in Einstellungen → Firestorm → CmdLine. Es sind jedoch noch nicht alle Kommandos funktionsfähig.
  • Wie kann ich den Login Fortschritt Schirm deaktivieren?
    Das geht entweder in:
    • Debug Settings - PhoenixDisableLoginScreen, oder
    • Einstellungen → Firestorm → Allgemein
  • Wie kann ich den Abmeldung Schirm deaktivieren ?
    Das geht entweder in:
    • Debug Settings - PhoenixDisableLogoutScreens, oder
    • Einstellungen → Firestorm → Allgemein
  • Wie kann ich den Teleport Schirm deaktivieren?
    Wer hätte es gedacht… entweder:
    • Debug Settings - PhoenixDisableTeleportScreens, oder
    • Einstellungen → Firestorm → Allgemein
  • Gibt es die Möglichkeit, die Voice Lautstärke für bestimmte Personen einzustellen ? Aktive Sprecher suche ich eigentlich.
    Öffne Aktive Sprecher (Pfeil an der rechten Seite des Sprachknopfs) und bewege deinen Mauszeiger über einen Namen in der Liste. Klicke nun auf das kleine (i) Symbol, und nun kannst du die Lautstärke anpassen. Das gleiche geht ebenfalls durch einen Klick auf den Pfeil rechts hinter dem entsprechenden Namen.
  • Ich bekomme DNS Fehler wenn ich versuche mich mit Firestorm anzumelden.
    Deaktiviere alle Firewalls, Antivirus Software etc., insbesondere wenn es sich dabei um F-Secure für Windows handelt.
  • Ich kann mich mit Firestorm nicht anmelden. Ich habe sichergestellt dass mein Name und Passwort korrekt buchstabiert wurden.
    Make sure your password is 16 characters or less. If longer, shorten your password on the website and try logging in again. If the website also refuses to take your password, use the “Forgot my password” link to get it fixed.
  • Is Don't send my camera target hints same as Don't broadcast cam focus point?
    The simple answer is, yes, they are the same thing.
  • What are V1 style cursors?
    This changes the style of the mouse cursor when hovering over an object that has sit/buy/pay etc. enabled, to match the cursors used in V1.x viewers, like Phoenix.
  • I crash when I enable “Lighting and Shadows”.
    Try disabling Antialiasing in Preferences → Graphics → Hardware. This should happen automatically, but sometimes it fails and needs to be done manually.
  • I don't see name tags of other users.
    Bring up the Develop menu (Preferences → Advanced → Show Developer Menu) and uncheck Develop → Rendering → Framebuffer Objects. Also, try toggling both Automatic Alpha Masks settings.
  • I don't see my HUD objects.

  • How do I set Display Names?
    First, you need to make sure that you have View Display Names enabled. To do that, go to Preferences → General Tab.
    Secondly, open your profile and click on Edit. In the upper left hand corner, you should see a tools icon next to your name and the words Display name. You can change your display name here.
    Third, click the tools icon, a window will popup. Now enter your new Display Name twice. Finally click save and close the window.
  • How do I change my group tag?
    Click Comm → Groups or click on the People icon on the bottom button bar or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-G then select the group. Right click, then select Activiate.
  • How do I change my active title for a group?
    Click Comm → Groups or click on the People icon on the bottom button bar or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-G then select the group. At the bottom, click Group profile; under My title, click the down arrow and change tag and save.
  • How do I change the skin on my viewer?
    Open Preferences → Skins. Select the skin using the drop down arrow and same for color scheme. Click Ok. You will need to restart the viewer for the change to take effect.
  • How do I see my own profile?
    Right click your avatar, or, on the top menu bar, select Avatar → Profile, and your profile will open. You also have a profile icon on the side bar if you have this skin. Otherwise, click the Profile button on the bottom button bar.
  • I do not see my picks in my profile, where did they go?
    If this is your first time on Firestorm, after you open your own profile click cancel at the bottom and then you will see picks at the top.
  • How do I edit my profile?
    Open your profile by right clicking yourself and selecting Profile; then click Edit profile at the bottom. Make your changes and then remember to click save at the bottom. For details, see this page.
  • I want to delete one of my picks, how do I do this?
    Click the pick you want, then the trash can icon; you will get a request for confirmation.
  • How do I add a pick to my profile?
    Open your profile, click Picks and at the bottom, click the plus that is above Info. Then click New Pick, and at the bottom click Save pick.
  • How do I give someone editing rights for my objects?
    Open the People window (at the top menu, selection Comm → Friends or press Ctrl-Shift-F or if using a side bar skin, click the people tab, friends or click the People icon on the bottom button bar).
    Then find the friend that you want to give rights to and click their name. Then click profile at the bottom, opening their profile window. Click Notes and Privacy at the top, then put a check in Edit, delete or take my objects. You will get a pop up asking for confirmation.
  • Where can see who I have muted (blocked)
    Open the People window (at the top menu, selection Comm → Friends or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-F or if using a side bar skin, click the people tab, friends or click the People icon on the bottom button bar).
    Then click the Friends tab; at the bottom click the gear icon and Show Blocked Residents or Objects.
    Alternately, you can go to Preferences → Privacy, and click the Manage Block/Mute List button.
  • How do I pass an object, notecard, or landmark to my friend?
    Open the People window (at the top menu, selection Comm → Friends or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-F or if using a side bar skin, click the people tab, friends or click the People icon on the bottom button bar).
    Locate the friend's name, double click it or click IM at the bottom opening an IM window with them. You may then go back to your inventory and drag the object, notecard or Landmark into that IM window and drop it. Also, if they are standing right in front of you, just drag it onto their avatar or tag over their head.
    Of course, you may also do it as it was done in V1-based viewers like Phoenix: open the person's profile, then drag then item(s) onto it.
  • Where can I see how many group's I am in using Firestorm?
    Click the up arrow next to the local chat bar where you type; this will open nearby chat. Then click Contacts tab, and at the top of that, Groups. You wil find the number you belong to at the bottom of that window.
  • How do I find my Teleport History in Firestorm?
    Click the Places icon in the bottom button bar, to open the Places window. At the top are two tabs: Landmarks and Teleport History; select the latter.
  • Where do I activate Beacons in Firestorm?
    From the top menu bar, select World → Show More → Beacons, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-Shift-N.
  • How is Wireframe Activated?
    Open the Developer menu. If it is not visible, you can enable it in Preferences → Advanced → Show Developer Menu or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Q.
    Then go to Develop → Rendering → Wireframe. Alternately, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift- R.
  • Where are Bumps, Hits, and Pushes?
    Open the Developer menu. If it is not visible, you can enable it in Preferences → Advanced → Show Developer Menu or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Q.
    Bumps, Pushes & Hits is located there.
  • Is there a place in the viewer that I can click to easily go to the SL Marketplace?
    In the top menu bar, open Content menu, then SL Marketplace.
  • Is there a place in the viewer where I can click and open the grid status page quickly?
    In the top menu bar, select Help → Check Grid Status.
  • Where is the Lag Meter Located?
    Open the Advanced menu. If it is not visible, you can enable it in Preferences → Advanced → Show Advanced Menu or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-D.
    Select Advanced → Performance Tools → Lag Meter.
  • Where is the Statistics Bar located?
    Open the Advanced menu. If it is not visible, you can enable it in Preferences → Advanced → Show Advanced Menu or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-D.
    Select Advanced → Performance Tools → Statistics Bar. Alternately, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-1.
  • How do I disable tooltips?
    From the top menu bar, uncheck Help → Enable Tooltips.
  • Where can I find keyword alerts in Firestorm?
    Preferences → Firestorm → Chat → Enable keyword alerts.
  • How do I open a second inventory window in Firestorm?
    Open your inventory with Ctrl-I, or by clicking the suitcase icon on the side bar or bottom bar. Then click the gear icon on the bottom of the inventory window, and select New Inventory Window at the very top.
  • Where do I go to upload an image, sound, or animation?
    To upload an image, press Ctrl-U, or from the top menu bar, select Avatar → Upload or Build → Upload. You may also find this by opening your inventory and, at the bottom, clicking the plus and selecting Upload in that menu.
  • When I'm sitting on a pose I no longer see the stand button, where did it go?
    Depending on the skin used, the stand button is now on the movement control. You can bring this up and right click it and move it anywhere on your screen and it will stay docked. If the move control is not visible, you may display it by selecting Avatar → Move Controls from the top menu bar or by clicking on the Move button in the bottom button bar. If the button is not shown, right click on an empty space in the bottom bar and enable it.
  • How can I see my avatar from the front view so I can see myself walk?
    If not showing, bring up the camera control by selecting Avatar → Camera Control from the top menu bar or by clicking the View button on the bottom button bar. If this button is not displayed, right click an empty space on the bottom bar and enable it.
    Now on the camera control window, click the eye icon; this reveals presets, which include front view.
    Note that the camera control window may be docked to any window edge, thus remaining visible at all times.
  • How do I show property lines in Firestorm?
    from the top menu bar, select World → Show More → Property Lines, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-Shift-P.
  • Where is Area Search?
    Area Search is found in the World menu in the top menu bar.
  • Where in Firestorm can I set myself away, busy or unavailable?
    This can be found under the Comm menu on the top menu bar, then Online Status.
  • Where is stop animating my avatar located in Firestorm?
    This is found under the Avatar menu on the top menu bar, then Avatar Health → Stop Avatar Animations.
